Bosch Y Bosco

   ‘Bosch y Bosco, de Tuin bevlogen!’ was een cultureel uitwisselingsprogramma dat de reis volgde die het drieluik de ‘Tuin der Lusten’ van Jheronimus Bosch destijds heeft afgelegd. Op de reis in 2016 werden de steden ’s-Hertogenbosch, Tilburg, Breda, Brussel, Antwerpen, San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Madrid en Gent aangedaan om aan het eind van het jaar weer terug te keren naar ’s-Hertogenbosch.

   ‘De Tuin der Lusten’ van Jeroen Bosch is een idiosyncratisch kunstwerk dat bijzonder tot de verbeelding spreekt. Met recht kan het werk canoniek genoemd worden: het heeft door de eeuwen heen fascinatie opgewekt op zeer uiteenlopende plaatsen bij een zeer breed publiek. Alleen daarom al doet ‘De Tuin der Lusten’ ertoe. Het werk is een universele loper die een rijkdom aan thema’s ontsluit en talloze deuren opent naar vergelijking en uitwisseling in cultuurgoed. Europees erfgoed bij uitstek.

   ‘Bosch Y Bosco’ was een initiatiefgroep (Jan Wirken, Dorith van der Lee, Sjon Brands, Thijs Caspers, Geno Spoormans en Jasper Molenaar) die zich ten doel stelde projecten aan te jagen en te ondersteunen die verband houden met de reis die ‘De Tuin der Lusten’ van Jeroen Bosch ruim 500 jaar geleden gemaakt heeft van de plaats van zijn conceptie in Den Bosch naar zijn huidige domicilie Madrid. Deze reis werd in 2016 aangevat door kunstenaars, historici, politici, educatieve en culturele instellingen. Pijlers van deze reis van de ‘Tuin der Lusten’ waren de hedendaagse kunstenaar Sjon Brands, de ‘New Royal Flaminga Band’ (Martin Fondse, Mete Erker, Eric van der Westen en Jan Wirken) en het ‘Calefax Rietkwintet’.

   ‘Bosch y Bosco, de Tuin bevlogen!’ was a cultural exchange program that did follow the journey of the triptych the ‘Garden of Earthly Delights’ by Hieronymus Bosch. The 2016 trip did visit the cities of ’s-Hertogenbosch, Tilburg, Breda, Brussels, Antwerp, San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Madrid and Ghent before returning to ’s-Hertogenbosch at the end of that year.

   ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’ by Hieronymus Bosch is an idiosyncratic work of art that particularly appeals to the imagination. The work can rightly be called canonical: over the centuries it has aroused fascination in very different places among a very wide audience. For that reason alone, ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’ matters. The work is a universal runner that unlocks a wealth of themes and opens countless doors to comparison and exchange in cultural heritage. European heritage par excellence.

   'Bosch Y Bosco' was an initiative group (Jan Wirken, Dorith van der Lee, Sjon Brands, Thijs Caspers, Geno Spoormans and Jasper Molenaar) that aimed to stimulate and support projects related to the journey that ‘De Garden of Earthly Delights’ by Hieronymus Bosch more than 500 years ago from the place of his conception in Den Bosch to his current residence in Madrid. This journey started again in 2016 by artists, historians, politicians, educational and cultural institutions. The pillars of this journey of the 'Garden of Earthly Delights' were the contemporary artist Sjon Brands, the ‘New Royal Flaminga Band’ (Martin Fondse, Mete Erker, Eric van der Westen and Jan Wirken) and the ‘Calefax Reed Quintet’.
